He was predeceased by: his parents, D. A. Gaines and Sudie Bryan Boone; his wife Elizabeth Rice Boone; and his siblings, William Arthur, Claude Wayne Boone, Lois Perry, Winona Smith and Ilene Davis.
He is survived by: his son Andrew; his daughter-in-law Cheyrl Boone of Chapin; his daughter Marilyn; his son-in-law Dean Kimbrell of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren, George Boone (Karin) of Sydney, Australia, Mandy Psiaki (David) of Atlanta, Georgia and Wilt Boone (Brooke Steenwyk) of Boone; and his great grandchildren, Katherine and Gaines Psiaki.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to either the "G.O. and Betty Boone Scholarship Fund" at Newberry College (2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108) or Bethel Lutheran Church (PO Box 367, White Rock, SC 29177).
