He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Walter Messerle, Sr. and Rosemarie Rogers Messerle; and his wife Kathie Fry Messerle. He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Gibson (David) of Plainfield, IN, Sherry Goldman (Sonny) of East Stroudsburg, PA and Sandy Messerle of Stroudsburg, PA; his stepsons, Steven Fry (Dawn) of Centreville, VA and Chris Kishbaugh (Heather) of Calabash, NC; his sister Roseann VanWhy (Larry) of Bushkill, PA; his niece Bonnie Wargo (Gabe); his nephew Daniel VanWhy (Kristen) of Bushkill, PA; his grandchildren, Sage Johnson (Tiffany), Seth Johnson (Misty), Justin Petrella (Olivia) and Maya Petrella; and his great grandchildren, Emilynne Johnson and Kaleb Johnson.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Florence National Cemetery (803 E National Cemetery Rd, Florence, SC 29506).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, the veterans' organization of one's choice, or charity of one's choice.
