He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurie Cecil Coker and Mellie Mae "Polly" Graham; his son D. J. Coker, Jr.; his brother Larry Coker; his half-brother Derrick Gaymon; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Player and Wade Moore.
He is survived by: his daughter Ginger Evans; his granddaughter Alannah Coker; his close friend Donna Coleman; his siblings, Bobby Coker (Phyllis), Elaine Moore, Ann Humphries (Henry), Naomi Player and Yolanda Courie; his half-sisters, Wendy Gaymon and Debbie Matthews; and his sister-in-law Jo Ellyn Coker.
