He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Highsmith Thorpe and Clifford Armand Thorpe; his wife Ruth Adrienne Ellery Adams of Chester, S. C; his daughter Alicia Megan Thorpe LaLone of Charlotte, N. C.; his sister Jan Thorpe Shawen (E. M. Shawen) of Chattanooga, T. N.; his niece Elizabeth Shawen Underwood (Derek Underwood); and his nephew Eddie Thorpe Shawen.
