He was predeceased by: his parents, James Columbus "Shorty" and Joyce Neese Wood; and his siblings, Richard Wood, Carey Wood and Gail Williams.

He is survived by: his son Clay James "CJ" Campbell of Fair Play; his sisters, Debra Allen of Anderson and Libby Whitten of Townville; and his granddaughter Emma Campbell.
