He was predeceased by: his parents, James Wallace and Margie Bell McAlister Hopkins; and his siblings, Danny Hopkins, Cheryl Fricks and Angie Hopkins.

He is survived by: his wife Geri Lynn Van Hopkins of Fair Play; his children, Austin Van Hopkins and Brittany Nicole Hopkins Lafaille; and his grandson Lincoln Lafaille.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
