He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin "B. F." Brown and Nellie Rhodes Brown of Virginia; his son Dale Brown; and his brother Bill Brown. He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Elizabeth Waddell Brown; his children, John Brown (Milisa) and Penny Williams (Lacy "Bubba"); and his grandchildren, Nathan Brown (Becca), Jennifer Somai (Kevin), Anna Silvers (Alec), Ashlyn Ghantt (Johnny), Jaden Brown, Ella Brown, Caroline Edmundson (Paul), Sara Grace Simmons, Cassie Brown and Daniel Brown.
