He was predeceased by: his parents, William Robert "Bill" Hayes, Sr. and Annie B. Hayes; his uncle Jimmie; his aunt Bernice Antonio; and his cousin Cathy Whitaker.

He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Kaitlyn Hayes; the mother of his child Elizabeth "Beth" Sharpe Mauldin of Seneca, S. C.; his aunts, Dell Roberts of Texarkana, T. X. and Louise Taylor; and his cousins, Lori Williams (Frank) of Leland, N. C., Deborah Owen (Bob) of Lexington, S. C., Patsy Corley of Lexington, S. C. and Gwen Herbert (Russell) of Charleston, S. C..
