He was predeceased by: his parents, George Whalen and Catherine Fortune Whalen; his sister Catherine Toth; his son Andrew Yelenic; his granddaughter Crystal Graves; and his great grandchild Dakotah Traven.

He is survived by: his wife Judith Whalen; and his children, Catherine Whalen (Blondie), Larry Whalen (Sharron), Barney Whalen (Tammy), Sandy Knight (Donnie), Susan Clegg (Danny) and Debbie Simcic.
