He was predeceased by: his parents, Talmadge G. Nates, Sr. and Evelyn L. Nates; his brother Mark Nates; his son R. Scott Nates; and his granddaughter Chelcee Nates.
He is survived by: his daughter Amanda; his stepchildren, Bobby and Christina; his siblings, Tracy Nates (Carol), Paul Nates (Angie), Hope Elders and Lynne Medlin (Larry); and his daughter-in-law Rachel Brown. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel (7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia, SC 29223). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the South Carolina, American Heart Association, in honor of Mr. Talmadge "Bud" G. Nates, Jr.
