He was predeceased by: his parents, Long June and Essie Lee Carlton Hines. He is survived by: his wife Debbie L. Hines; his stepdaughter Deonca Shuler (Alex) of Columbia; his grandchildren, Chole Shuler and Miles Shuler; and his friend Belinda Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
