He was predeceased by: his parents, James LeGrand Hicks, Sr. and Annie Opal Ring Hicks; and his siblings, Joanne Eanes and James LeGrand Hicks, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Eileen Grubbs Hicks; his sons, James Albert Hicks (Missy) of Elgin, John Spencer Hicks, Jr. (Melissa) of Prosperity and William Douglas Brazell (Cyndi) of Easley, S. C.; and his siblings, Billy Hicks and Molly Susan Vernon. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or the Shriners Hospital.
