He is survived by: his wife Elaine Powell Young; his sons, Mel Young, Jr. (Robin) and Jason Young (Wendy); the mother of his children Gladys Davis; his stepsons, Michael Roy Thigpen (Melissa) and Allen Thigpen (Kelly); his grandchildren, Ashton Young, Dawson Young, Jackson Young, Chris Pak, Tyler Pak, Andrew Thigpen, Anna Grace Thigpen and William Thigpen; his great grandchildren, Lux Pak and Jayce Pak; and his brother Billy Young (Harriett).
