He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Hugh Sears, Jr. and Dorothea Waddey Sears Roper. He is survived by: his wife Sara Potts Sears; his daughter Hannah Sears Gillard; his granddaughter Sarah Catherine Inabinet Gillard of Mount Pleasant, SC; his nieces, Noele Hinnant Lang (Chris) and Stephania Hinnant Griffin (Chris); and his great-nephews, Aaron Lang, Evan Lang, Michael Sims, Michelle Sims Kruse (Will), Aralyn Griffin, Victoria Baldowski and Conner Baldowski. He is also survived by nephew Christopher Shane Canada, grandnieces.
