He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mildred Avant and Barnell Watts Avant; his children, Donald Avant Jr., Travis Avant (Julie), Angelina Parker (Chris), Christina Ewing (Rick), Jason Dharyll M. Penaflor, John Dexter M. Penaflor and Jholarry Dave M. Penaflor; and his brother Steve Hiott. He was also cherished by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
