He was predeceased by: his parents, Bessie Chavis and Louie Chavis; and his sisters, Betty Seals of Conway, SC. and Carolyn Benson of Conway, SC.. He is survived by: his wife Lil Chavis; and his sons, J. L. Chavis (Gail) of Elgin, SC and Rick Chavis (Mary) of Eastover. He is also survived by four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous friends.
