He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry John Dounelis and Sally Lavinia Fisher. He is survived by: his wife Betty Brown Dounelis; his son Scott Kelley (Sherian); and his brothers, Phillip Dounelis, John Dounelis and Geroge Dounelis. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
