He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Hester and Ethel Owens Hester; his wife Doris Moore Hester; his daughter Susan Sams; and his siblings, Mary Ellen Guthrie, Evelyn Aiken and J. D. Hester.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Hester (Cindy) and Tammy H. Youngblood; his siblings, Guynell Hester (Mickey), Billy Joe Hester and Ruby Nell Spearman (John); and his grandchildren, Chrissy Kirwa (Justus), David Sams (Carrie), Tasha Jenkins (Aaron), Lance Hester, Eva Hooper (Corey) and Trey Hester (Britnei). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
