She was predeceased by: her parents, Ivy Freeman and Wanza Freeman; her husband Charles Gary Stancell Sr.; and her siblings, Broadus Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, David Freeman and Debbie Patterson.

She is survived by: her son Gary Stancell (Crystal); her grandsons, Charles Gary "Casey" Stancell III and Jackson Marion Stancell; and her siblings, Tommy Freeman, Bobby Freeman, Sammy Freeman, Sue Ellison, Patsy Bagwell, Jane Todd and June Nix.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Cottingham Hospice House, located at 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca South Carolina, 29672.
