She was predeceased by: her parents, Phillip Wayne Thornton and Nancy Frances Morgan McKelvey; her husband Robert Earl Thrift; and her sons, Allen Davis and David Thrift.

She is survived by: her children, Amanda Davis, Beth Henson (David Poole) and Joe West; her grandchildren, Andrew McKinney, Alley Buzzard, Gauge Stewart and Kevin McKinney; and her close friend Elaine Fowler. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
