He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Eddie and Nell Clark Patterson; his siblings, Patsy Harrison, Norma Parton, Geraldine Keough, Ruth Wilson, Betty Jo Patterson, Janice Patterson-Nichols, Phyllis McMahan, David Patterson, E. Howard Patterson and Mike Patterson; and his mother-in-law Vergene J Colloms.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Colloms-Patterson; his sons, David Folk (Lisa) of Spartanburg, S. C. and Michael Folk (Julie) of Inman, S. C.; his granddaughters, Abbey Folk-Exum (Brennon) of Inman, S. C. and Adrianna Folk (Raj) of Duncan, S. C.; and his great grandchild Eli Samuel Robinson of Duncan, S. C.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
