He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Emmitt Maston and Sarah Catherine Smith; his spouse Ella Mae Helms Smith; his children, Donnie Earl, Ronnie Eugene, David Glenn Smith, Brenda Kay Glenn and Rita Faye Richard; and his siblings, Claburn Timothy, Flora Mae, Doug Wren, Hattie (Happy), Clinton, Howard, Roy and Milford Carlton. He was also cherished by eighteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren.
