He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Billy Wade and Sue Sizemore Carpenter; his wife Sheila of Duncan, SC; his stepson Logan Garrett (Kim); his stepgrandchildren, Audrey and Elliott Garrett of Woodruff, SC; his sister Cathy Carpenter Letton (Jimmy); and his nieces and nephews, Lauren and Jimmy Letton of Daniel Island, SC..

In lieu of flowers, David would want memorials made to nonprofit local animal rescue groups, particularly those devoted to the care and protection of dogs and cats.
