He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph Byrd and Nellie Grace Gilbert Byrd; his siblings, Doris Byrd, Virgil Byrd and Larry Yow; and his brother-in-law Jackie Godbold.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Byrd of Latta; his stepson Christopher Skinner of Farmville, NC; and his siblings, Ellen Godbold of Latta, Florence Weatherford (Henry) of Latta, Dawn Peacock (Steven) of Latta, Georgia Rouse (Jeff) of Greenville, NC and Berry Byrd (Elizabeth) of Latta. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cooper Funeral Home (209 Black Branch Rd, Dillon, SC 29536). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (405 Mt Calvary Rd, Dillon, SC 29536).
