He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Gandy "L. G." and Hazel Pye Howle. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Garris Howle; his children, Helen Mathews, Madison Howle and Tinker (Thomas William Howle, Jr.); his brothers, Larry Howle and Lon G. Howle (Caroline); his grandchildren, Trey Howle of Darlington, Erin Zirlott (Zack), Lucas Matthews and Lynsey Matthews; and his great grandchild Layton Howle.
