He was predeceased by: his parents, R. L. Byrd and Madge Martin Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Martha Rae DeFee Byrd; his son Doug Byrd of Darlington; his grandsons, Austin Byrd of Cades, SC and Trey Byrd of Tucson, AZ; his children, Gussie Moore, Nell Gable, Katherine Ward, Frank, Fred, George and Joe Byrd; and his nephew Larry Byrd. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
