She was predeceased by: her parents, Ollie Mae of Darlington and Lawrence Henry Gainey of Darlington, SC.; her daughter Pamela Byrd of Darlington; her husband Harvey Byrd of Darlington; her son-in-law David Kemmerlin of Darlington; and her siblings, Henry "Sonny" Gainey of Hartsville, Virginia "Jenny" Howle and Peggy Gainey.
She is survived by: her daughter Annette Byrd Kemmerlin; her sister Betty Kelly of Darlington; her daughter Mary Kemmerlin of Darlington; her grandchildren, Ashley Clark (Tracie) of Darlington and TJ Kemmerlin (Autumn) of Darlington; and her great grandchildren, Landon Owens of Darlington, Kessleigh Kemmerlin of Darlington, Dawson Kemmerlin of Darlington and Sawyer Clark of Darlington. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Regency Hospice care or The American Cancer Society, organizations Katie felt strongly about.
