He is survived by: his children, Johnnie Dewitt, Jr., Diane Bruce (John), Rebecca Carolina (Moses) and Judith Barber (Eddie); his grandchildren, Quantashae Dewitt, Dana Jett (Raleigh), Courtney Williams, Joshua Dewitt, Justin Dewitt and Kendra Carolina; his brother Theola Samuel (Marcus); his adoptive daughter Leatha James; his siblings, Hilton Dewitt II, James "Bo" Dewitt, Luther Dewitt (Margaret), Thomas Pierce (Annie Mae), Betty Brown and Bernice Wortham; and his siblings-in-law, Ray Wortham, Patricia Moses, Dorothy Samuel and Thomasina Gregory. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
