He was predeceased by: his parents, William Woodberry Atkinson and May Belle Tindall Atkinson; and his siblings, David Atkinson, H. B. Atkinson, Julia Bell Richardson of Eloise Ammons, W. J, Harmon Atkinson, Dora Letha Atkinson and Wanda Atkinson.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Hudson Atkinson; his son Timothy Atkinson (Barbara); and his grandchildren, McClain Atkinson and Karli Atkinson.
