He was predeceased by: his parents, Armstrong Jolly Howard II and Annie Louise Milling Howard; his wife Natalie Bettis Chase Howard; his brother Armstrong Jolly Howard III; and his brother-in-law Simons Lucas Chase.
He is survived by: his father-in-law Maitland Chase, Jr.; his son Charles; his grandsons, Howard, Jr. (Patty), Maitland Chase Howard (Natalie Bettis Howard), Charles, Howard III (Emily), Simons Lucas Howard and Lucas Milling Martin; his brother Whitfield Milling Howard; and his siblings-in-law, Maitland Soutter Chase III (Betty Anne), John Ravenel Chase and Nancy Chase Burnside.
