He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Theron DeWitt and Elma Lee Moore DeWitt; his wife Betty; his daughters, Gay DeWitt Warren (Micheal) of Fort Mill and Melissa DeWitt (David Ard) of Darlington; his grandchildren, Michelle Warren of Kannapolis, NC, Scott Warren of Florence, SC and Brandon DeWitt; his extended family, Jamzin Pownall and Tami Hursey; and his siblings, Mary Belle DeWitt Hoffmeyer (Polly), JoAnne DeWitt and Theron L. DeWitt, Jr.. He was also cherished by numerous great grandchildren.
