It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sidney Charles Smith of Dalzell, South Carolina, born in Florence, South Carolina, who passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Eileen Margaret Mulqueen Smith; his parents, James E. Smith and Celia Reynolds Smith; his siblings, Thomas J. Smith, Roy Smith, Harry W. Smith, Alfred E. Smith, Ruby Hickson, Ethal Gibbs and Betty Geddings; his stepson David Michael Converse; his granddaughter Courtney Paige Converse; and his close friend Pete Benton of Sumter.
He is survived by: his children, Charles Rodney Smith of Georgia, Denny Smith of West Virginia, Tony Smith (Debbie) of West Virginia and Lisa Dobbins of West Virginia; his brother Jesse Smith of Timmonsville; his daughter-in-law Debra Converse of Sumter; and his granddaughter Fawn Meggan Hughes of Sumter. He is also survived by three grandsons; eight granddaughters; numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
