He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Sturgill Covington; his parents, Paul Covington and Addie Marie Steadman Covington; and his siblings, Marvin Steadman, Robert Covington, Betty Suttles and Mary Ayers.

He is survived by: his siblings, Kenneth Covington of Cowpens, Diane Cothan of Roebuck and Libby Covington of Chesnee; and his niece Melinda Trisler of Cowpens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Dan & Alice to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
