He was predeceased by: his parents, Abrey Scott and Frances Sanders Scott; his son James Michael Scott (Kim); his granddaughter Amy Lynn Pirtle; his great grandchildren, Hayden Wesley Melton and Julian Lee Nickels; his brothers, Walter Bryant Scott, Charles Scott, Alvin Ernest Scott and Paul Landon Scott; and his former wife Emily Robinson.
He is survived by: his spouse Jean Haught Scott; his children, Sylvia Pruitt (Randy), Richard Scott (Karin), Joseph Andrew Scott (Jennifer), Charles Scott and Jason Scott; his sister Frances Scott Broadway; and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Thomas (Bill) and Carl "Butch" Waugh (Donna).
