He was predeceased by: his parents, Dudley L. Powell and Lena Jeanette Wallace Powell; his former wife Sandy Faye Powell; his son Kevin Levon Powell; and his siblings, Randy, Check, Mary and Laura.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie W. Powell; his children, Rodney Powell (Kayla), Pickens Caviness (Brett), Randall Butler, Teresa Shifflet (Tony), Bobby Welch, Jr. and Jessie Welch; and his siblings, Bubba Powell (Pearl) and Ethelyne Biernacki.
