He was predeceased by: his parents, Elease Jacob of Washington and Herbert Cannon; and his siblings, Richard of Washington and Lillie Mae Cannon. He is survived by: his wife Gussie Govan of Washington; his children, Tommy, Jr. of Cordova, SC, Janie W. Best of Atlanta, Georgia, Ruthie W. Guinyard of Orangeburg, SC, Rebecca of Washington, Arline of Cope, SC and Latory W. Felder of Washington, DC.; his grandchildren, Ashley Hickson, Bradford Best, Xavier Best (Sarah), Raven Johnson, Candace Jones, Zander Felder and Langston Felder; and also Nugget. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; four sisters; one brother; four sisters-in law.
