He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Johnson and Annie Alene Lewis Johnson; and his siblings, Geraldine Johnson, Thelbert Johnson, Edwin Johnson and James Johnson.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Jordan Johnson; his sisters, Velma Johnson, Ann Johnson and Sandra Karen Johnson; his stepdaughters, Camille Causey (Kenny Roberts) and Tammi Qasem (Said); and his goddaughter Amanda Gilleland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
