He was predeceased by: his parents, John Oscar Tyler and Annie Cornelia Bruorton Tyler; his wife Bobbie Ann Johnson Tyler; his former wife Betty Jo Parker Tyler; and his siblings, Royce B. Tyler (Violet), Oscar M. Tyler (Jean), Gloria D. Tyler Herndon (Gordon) and Virginia D. Tyler Matthews (Alton).
He is survived by: his children, John R. Tyler Jr. (Rick) and Patricia Arlan Tyler Ferrell (William); his grandchildren, Casey M. Tyler Catalano (Bryan) and John Reese Tyler III; and his great grandchildren, Sydney Catalano and John Reese Tyler IV (Rex).
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that memorial donations in John's honor be made to The Hut Bible Class.
