He was predeceased by: his parents, William McKinley Ward and Elnita Holt Ward; and his wife Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Ward. He is survived by: his sons, James M. Ward, Jr. (Rebecca), Joel Douglas Ward (Gwyn) and Steven W. Ward, Sr. (Kathy); his grandchildren, Mary Ward, Jimmy Ward (Ashley), Jennifer Anderson, Lyndsay Chandley (Brandon), Steven Ward, Jr. (Erin) and Ashley Ward Jordan (Dustin); his great grandchildren, Alston, Mason, Fischer, Deborah Kate, Charli, Jackson, Addie Grace, Easton Beth and Katie Beth; and his close friend Nancy Kennedy.
