He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Franklin Layne, Jr. and Mary Jane McBrayer Layne; his brother Roger Franklin Layne; and his grandparents, Charles McBrayer, Pearl McBrayer of Louisa, KY, Luvenia Layne of Charleston and Francis Belle Grubb of Pennsylvania.

He is survived by: his sisters, Patricia Anne Wurts (John) of Houston, Charlotte Rice of Conway and Leona K. Swafford (Conley) of Louisa, KY; and his sister-in-law Vicky Layne (Roger). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
