With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Silas Wendell Holmes of Columbia, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 23, 2025 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Silas Wendell Holmes to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Foy Holmes and Ida Gore Holmes; his wife Doris Stover Holmes; his daughter-in-law Paula Dunn Holmes; and his brothers, Donald and Dale Holmes.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Holmes Dickens (Richard) of Columbia, Silas Wendell Holmes, Jr. (Teri) of Columbia and James Bradford Holmes of Fountain Inn, SC.; his grandchildren, Madison Altman (Brian), Jordan Dickens, Harris Dickens, Rebecca Scout Holmes (Joe Gorman), Sarah Frances Holmes and Silas Wendell "Trey" Holmes, III; his great grandchildren, Elizabeth Altman, Hayden Altman and Pippi Holmes-Gorman; his close friend Jane Holmes; and his friends, Sandy Gundlach, Don, Nancy Hyatt and Ernie Banner.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (3909 Forest Dr, Columbia, SC 29204). A reception was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Home of Jeff & KIM Binnicker (4530 Reamer Ave, Columbia, SC 29206).
