He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph F. Otey and Helen E. Jester Otey; and his wife Nellie Otey. He is survived by: his daughter Carol; his son-in-law Steven Johnson of Carthage, NC; his son Sidney Warren; his daughter-in-law Jeanne Otey, Jr. of Pickens, SC; and his grandchildren, Stephen Johnson (Beth) of Greensboro, NC, David Johnson (Christy) of Gibsonville, NC, Jay Johnson (Holly) of Southern Pines, NC, Tabitha Crotts (Travis) of Greenville, SC and Eric Otey of Greenville, SC. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 28th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Orangeburg Baptist Tabernacle (3440 North Rd, Orangeburg, SC 29118). A burial was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
