He is survived by: his children, Micah Meosha Grier and Jalon Taylor; his grandchildren, Dexter Jr. and Zakayah Isaac; his stepgranddaughter Zetta J. Housey; his siblings, Pat Gilyard of Columbia, SC, Mary Henderson (David) of Columbia, SC, Emanuel Taylor, Jr. of Vancouver, WA, Rowena Oliver (William) of Conway, SC, Alton Taylor of Columbia, SC and Doris Tia Taylor Thomas of Irmo, SC; his brother-in-law Godfrey Phillips of Roanoke, VA; his uncle Alfred Davis of Columbia, SC; and his aunts, Catherine Miller, Dorothy Vogt of Vance, SC and Christine Taylor of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home (2930 Colonial Dr, Columbia, SC 29203). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Zion Canaan Baptist Church (7820 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203).
