Michael Robinson Obituary

In the beginning, MICHAEL ROBINSON was born the sixth child from the union of the late Mr. Jessie Robinson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Minnie Ruth Reed Robinson. This great birth occurred on Saturday, May 19, 1956 in Harlem, New York.

Seeking God’s direction and guidance, at an early age, family ties brought him to Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, South Carolina, where he joined and became a baptized member. Later in life, he moved his membership to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina, where he remained until his earthly departure.

Michael’s education was provided by teachers and mentors at Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Schools in Norway, South Carolina where he graduated in 1976.

In 1983, Michael united in Holy Matrimony to the former, Brinda L. Williams. The couple remained together until Brinda’s untimely transition on Saturday, February 17, 2001. To this union Michael and Brinda raised and nurtured 3 sons in the home.

On July 23, 2004, he married the former Josie Mae Ferguson, and she was blessed to be his partner in life for 18 years.

Michael began employment at the former Ducane Heating Corporation in Blackville, South Carolina and then at Denmark Technical College, Denmark, South Carolina as a Security Guard for Sizemore Security Company. Michael later gained employment with Blackville-Hilda Public Schools, Blackville, South Carolina, where he worked as a custodian until his retirement in 2021.

Michael was a lover of sports. Everyone who knew Michael, knew he was a diehard Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves Fan!!! Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He was, indeed, a family man. He will be forever remembered for his love for his family. His joyful spirit will be forever treasured and implanted in his family’s hearts for generations. We thank God for the life that he lived, and time shared with us. He passed down his loving kindness, and faithfulness, and it is with these attributes and many more that will strengthen and encourage us all in the days that lie ahead. God blessed him with sixty-six (66) years of life, and he lived it to the glory of God, the benefit of his family and as a friend to countless numbers of people. He will be sorely missed, but forever loved.

At 4:02 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023, while receiving care at Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, God whispered Michael’s name, beckoned for him to come, and he answered God’s call. Michael left this world we know as home and went from labor to reward. What a time he must have had when he joined his loved ones in Heaven!!!

He was preceded in death and welcomed to his heavenly home by his beloved parents: father, Jesse Robinson, Sr. and mother, Minnie Ruth Reed Robinson; his wife: Brinda L. Williams-Robinson; one brother: Jesse L. Robinson; maternal grandparents: Deacon Arthur Reed and Rebecca Milhouse Reed; paternal grandparents: Amos Robinson, Sr. and Carrie Mobly Robinson; paternal step-grandmother: Lottie Steadman Robinson; and host of aunts, uncles and in-laws.
