She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Lefler and Lola Lefler; and her spouse H. Crayon Carpenter. She is survived by: her daughters, Ellen Bateman (William T. "Buddy") of Columbia and Lydia Califf (Rob) of Durham, NC; her grandchildren, Sharon Califf (Chris Lawless) of Durham, NC, Sam Califf of Denver, CO, Tom Califf (Kathryn) of Breckenridge, CO and James Bateman of Greenwood, SC.; her great grandchildren, Brooke, Noah, Tindal, June, Worth, Trale, Cameron and Reid; and her sister-in-law Joann Russell of Albemarle, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
