He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis E. Hodge and Hessie Biggs Hodge. He is survived by: his wife Doreen U. Hodge; his daughter Carla; his son-in-law Shawn Stinson of Lexington, SC; his grandchildren, Haley Varney (Taylor), Jeremy Ward Stinson, Jesse Lucas (Pack) and Sydney Stinson; his great grandchild Hudson Varney; and his sister Carol H. Duggins. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew, and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063.
