Ethel McCants Lowder Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ethel McCants Lowder (Columbia, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 25, 2024 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarke Wardlaw McCants of Winnsboro, S. C. and Ethel Watson of Chatham; her siblings, Clarke W. McCants Jr. and Katherine Watson McCants (DuBose); and her grandchildren, Katherine Rhett Maybank and Thomas (Maybank).
She is survived by: her children, Katherine Lowder Maybank (Bernie) of Charleston, S. C. and Dr. Carl E. Lowder Jr. (Theresa) of Mandeville, Louisiana.; her grandchildren, Carl E. Lowder III of Jackson, Caroline M. Lowder of Mandeville, Christopher M. Lowder of Greenville, S. C, William A. Maybank of Columbia, S. C., Elizabeth P. Aubrey (Alexis) of Boston and Burnett R. Maybank (Mary Grace) of Charleston, S. C.; her great grandchildren, James V. Maybank of Syracuse and Robert R. Maybank of Charleston, S. C.; and her extended family Tacey Gohean.
A memorial service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church (3200 Trenholm Rd, Columbia, SC 29204).
In lieu of flowers, the family humbly requests that memorials be made to Eastminster Presbyterian Church, to Still Hopes Resident Fund or any charity of one's choice.
