He was predeceased by: his parents, David Wylie Johnson and Nell Darby Miller Johnson; and his niece Laurens Hooker (Robert). He is survived by: his sister Frances McGraw; his niece Mary Smith (Adam); and his great-nephew Jameson Smith. He is also survived by family members, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
