We are sad to announce that on April 29, 2023, at the age of 84, Carl M. Lewis Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, born in Gastonia, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his former wife JoAnn Rockett Lewis; his parents, Carl Marvin Lewis and Nettie Styers Lewis; his sister Rebecca Lewis Gardner; and his niece Michelle Gardner.

He is survived by: his wife Emily W. Lewis; his children, Carmen Joan Lewis Carter and Eric Carl Lewis; his grandsons, Wellington Goddin, III and Nicholas Taylor Lewis; and his sister Susan Lewis Hayworth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Andrews Lutheran Church, or the Boy Scouts of America.
