It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ronald D. Hughes (Clemson, South Carolina), born in Strang, Nebraska, who passed away on October 13, 2018, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parent Ralph M. Hughes; his former wife Eugenia Carns Hughes; and his siblings, Bob Hughes, Carol Motis and Shirley Fowler.
He is survived by: his spouse Kathy Luman Hughes (Ellers); his parent Mildred Geweke Hughes; his children, Kathy Williams (Dan) of Eden Prairie, MN and Dave Hughes (Jane) of Ann Arbor, MI; his siblings, Darrell, Kenneth, Gerald Hughes, Genevieve Tanner, Delores Murrell and Sharon Cudaback; his grandchildren, Kim Michlin, Jenny Kilber, Ben Hughes, John Hughes, Sarah Williamson, Jim Hughes and Rebecca Hughes; his stepson Joe Ellers (Jamie) of Anderson; and his stepgrandchildren, Emily Wheeler, Anna Ellers and Allie Ellers.
Ron was a supporter of several charities so in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, South Carolina Special Olympics or to the charity of one's choice.
